Dr Trotter is an AMAZING specialist! His knowledge and personality makes you feel at ease. I saw Dr Trotter in 2012 with discharge from my ears. He had a look and told me I had an infection which had damaged my ear drum. Dr Trotter did a ear examination a couple of weeks after the infection had cleared to diagnose what was wrong with them and why my hearing had dropped. He confirmed that my ears would need two surgeries each. He performed the first surgery a few weeks back. He performed a Mastoidectomy on my left ear and confirmed that his diagnosis was correct and that the surgery went well. 3 week on i am feeling back to normal. Hearing is still the same but i have complete faith that Dr Trotter will be able to restore it back to normal. He outlines the risk of each surgery and ensured me that the risks have never occurred when he previously did the surgery and he does not intend for the risk to occur when i had surgery done. I now feel confident having the remaining 3 surgeries and have absolute trust in Dr Trotter and his team. Such a polite Dr with a personality which makes you feel less stressed about surgery!

I first saw Mr Trotter in November 2014 about sinus problems. After trying to clear things up with douches and nasal drops, eventually Mr Trotter decided that an operation would be needed which was carried out successfully in May 2015 with final sign off in August 2015. I was impressed with Mr Trotter's ability to explain things in an easy to understand way and by his bedside manner and overall I was very satisfie with the treatment

Mr Trotter should continue to demonstrate a great understanding of the patient through his 'bedside manner' and also engage with a complete lack of ego. This coupled with his clear articulation of the diagnosis and treatment sets him apart from other consultants.

For the last 30 years I have lived with hearing issues and a wet, mucky ear, I've lost count of the number of ear infections, times I've had to have suction and time I have had to have off school/college and work. Having several operations which at best have provided temporary relief, only for the symptoms to return with a vengeance! I became a patient of Mr Trotters in 2010/2011. From the very first outpatients appointment he was very polite, explained things thoroughly, never rushed me and most of all listened to me and how my life was being affected by the issues I was having with my ear. He cared not just about the what was happening inside my ear but about me as a person. Having a hearing impairment can be exhausting, trying to follow conversations with a group of people is extremely difficult and so I stopped trying. This led to me becoming withdrawn and isolated and eventually took a toll on my mental health. The constant ear infections and discharge meant that a traditional hearing aid was no good for me. The first surgery I had with Mr Trotter was to fit an abutment to my skull in order for me to have a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid). The operation went well & 3 months later I was 'switched on and tuned in' for the first time ever I could hear my own footsteps on the gravel path, leaves rustling and music in stereo! Wow! That in itself was a life changing moment. Then in September 2013 I had a constant ear infection that just would not go away. At one point I was at the hospital weekly for suction and to try different treatments. I couldn't go to work as my balance was affected, all the different antibiotics made me feel under the weather, I could see no end to it and once again my mental health was affected. Mr Trotter was so caring, understanding and genuinely frustrated as I was. We talked about having further surgery and what that involved, it was a mastoid obliteration. I totally trusted Mr Trotter and knew that if he was in any doubt about the outcome or benefits of the operation he would not have suggested it. I had the operation 9 months ago and have for the first time in 30 years a totally dry, trouble free ear. Again another life changing experience! I would highly recommend Mr Trotter to anyone who has a complex ear, not only is he a fantastic, dedicated, highly skilled surgeon, he is a lovely bloke too!
